About Dr. Phillips
Stephen J. Phillips, MD is a specialist in diseases and surgery of the retina. He received his residency training from The Wilmer Eye Institute at Johns Hopkins University and completed his fellowship in Vitreoretinal Services from Duke University Eye Center in 2004.
Dr. Phillips has been successfully treating retina patients in the Grand Strand Area since 2004 and continues to utilize the best treatment options available for his patients. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
Prior to his training at Johns Hopkins and Duke, he received his undergraduate and Medical Degrees from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He has been a lifelong sports enthusiast. He was a swimmer at UNC and was a member of the United States Cycling Team from 1987-1992. In his free time, Dr. Phillips can be found paddleboarding, surfing, and spending time with his wife and three sons.
